Hey everyone! It’s been a bit since the last post here, but I wanted to share a video that we did back in January with Scott, also known as Maylen. A little late to be bringing it up, but the song seems to fit in just right with some of the troubles of our time lately. This was one of the first videos we did for the new Okzygen Records website, so you may have already seen it, but I’m gonna talk briefly about the recording process.
And I do mean briefly, as it didn’t take very long to bring this mix to life. We were running a pair of Rode M3’s for the guitar mixed with a bit of the DI signal to add some crispness, and the always exceptional Slate ML-1 on the vocals. The FG-269 was the mic of choice on this mix, bringing out some desired presence in Scotts voice and a bit of air to the guitar that was being picked up too.
Other than a bit of compression to tie things together and some EQ here and there, the only other elements in the mix were a nice long shimmering reverb on the guitar and a touch of plate reverb on the vocals.
